About the Foundation
The Matthew 6:22 Foundation is a 501(c)3, tax-exempt not-for-profit that was established in 2021 by Dr. Russ Beach. The purpose of the organization is to provide free eye exams, glasses, and medical eye care services to local homeless individuals as a way to demonstrate the grace and kindness of Jesus Christ.
Dr. Beach started The Matthew 6:22 Foundation to expand the charitable eye care that he’s been performing since 2013. As a previous owner of Coastal Vision with 4 offices in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, Dr. Beach partnered with Bob and Debbie Roth of Homeland Disciples to provide free eye care and glasses to 75-100 people per year. Many of these visits were supported at the offices of Coastal Vision, as well as specific on-site outreach events at local centers that support the homeless.
Currently, The Matthew 6:22 Foundation provides the following free eye care services:
- Comprehensive, routine eye examinations
- Medical diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease, including glaucoma
- Free basic glasses
While the long-term aim of the Matthew 6:22 Foundation is to secure a permanent, stand-alone office to provide care, we continue to provide care at Coastal Vision, local homeless support centers, and in partnership with our inspirational friends at Homeland Disciples.
Primarily, we aim to help local homeless, as well as those who are “nearly-homeless” with no means of paying for eye care or glasses. About Dr. Russ Beach
Dr. Russ Beach was born and raised in Florida and graduated with an Optometric Doctorate degree in 2005. After graduation, he moved to Virginia Beach and has been here ever since. Dr. Beach married his wife, Janel, in 2008. Janel is also an optometrist. They have two boys, Greyson and Parker, who keep them challenged and busy on a daily basis. Dr. Beach is the former owner of Coastal Vision and still practices at 2 of its locations. Dr. Beach attends Red Church in Virginia Beach and enjoys running and woodworking in his spare time
